Co-Ops are a great way to build relationships with colleges and universities and give students real life experiences that they can’t find in the classroom. At Gorbel®, we love having Co-Ops. Over the years, we’ve had many co-ops across several different departments.

Co-Ops are a great opportunity to get some added work experience that can potentially lead to job offers. They give you real life experience that will set you aside from other candidates when officially out on the job market. We currently have two Co-Ops at Gorbel®. Get to know them:

Akshay Nawathe started at Gorbel® in January 2018 and is a Mechanical Engineering Co-op. Akshay is pursuing his Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and will be graduating from RIT in December of 2018.

Akshay is from Mumbai, India and did his undergrad in India in Mechanical Engineering before he came to the US two years ago and began attending RIT. He enjoys traveling, exploring new places and making new friends, playing soccer and cricket, and is supporting England in the World Cup that is currently taking place in Russia!

Akshay says one of his favorite parts of working at Gorbel® is the atmosphere — “The people are fantastic and very friendly. People here are always ready to help and want you to excel in what you are doing.” Akshay has really enjoyed working with his mentors. They’ve helped him settle into his role very easily and confidently, and helped him with any questions he has.

Amey Pai started at Gorbel® in May 2018 and is going to be with us through December 2018. Amey is originally from Mumbai, India, but is living in Henrietta right now and going to RIT. He is a Product Development Engineering Co-op, and has only been here for a few weeks, but is really enjoying it so far!

“The staff is very approachable,” Amey said. “For an intern there is nothing more endearing than the ease of communication.” He is very excited about Gorbel®’s determination to excel in both the field of engineering and medical rehabilitation products, which lines up perfectly with his ambition of being the best version of himself, both at work and outside of work!

Amey is loving his co-op so far — he loves seeing his work being implemented in current products and not just on paper. He says it’s a fantastic opportunity to experience being a full time engineer working for a multi-national company. That kind of practical knowledge can’t be taught in the class, and it helps students like Amey and Akshay better understand the concepts of engineering.
