Background
This 450,000 square foot hydroform plant in Ontario, Canada, uses pressurized water to form frames and components for a popular Sports Utility Vehicles. They need to lift the formed frames, weighing about 40 lbs. each, onto production lines, where they are sheared and drilled. The line currently handles about 80 frames per hour.
The Problem
Pieces were being manually lifted out of the bin and placed on the production line by 2 workers. The repetetive bending, lifting and twisting required put the workers at risk for injury and fatigue.
The Solution
An Easy Arm and an air actuated magnet to lift the formed frames.Adding the Easy Arm made this a one-person job, which allowed them to move the second person to another area of the plant.
